Our virtual workshops are held in the recently opened Trottier Studio for Innovative Science Education (Shrum Science Chemistry Building C9051) - a dedicated classroom for Science in Action. The Centre offers space and support for science workshops designed for elementary, middle and high school students whether they are home-schooled, or from schools or community groups. With a focus on community involvement and outreach, this new facility provides a vital link between SFU and the community. It has two preparation labs, state-of-the-art audio visual systems which includes a 3D projector and two large videoconferencing screens, and room for up to 75 children to explore our programs.
To access our virtual workshops, our facility utilizes Lifesize videoconferencing. This system should be able to connect with other videoconferencing systems such as Microsoft Lync, Polycom and others.
If you do NOT have a videoconferencing system, you can connect with us using a bridging service such as BlueJeans or Vidyo using an internet browser. Of course, a fast internet connection at your site would work best. Skype will NOT work with our system.
Note that Vancouver is on Pacific Standard Time, please consider this when scheduling your event.
