What outreach or public engagement do you do?

Over the past couple of years, I have run several Science in Action workshops: Chemistry, Forces and Motion, Energy, Math, DNA extraction, and Circuits. I also participate in outreach events at Science World and Science Fairs.

Why are you passionate about reaching out to young people or the public?

I like to engage students and get them interested in science while they are young. Kids are always excited to see “cool” things.  Inspiring young minds to pursue their natural curiosity has always been a passion of mine.   

You are a scientist. Did you ever want to be something else?

I’ve always looked into opportunities in the business field.

What do you like most about doing outreach?

Seeing kids go “that was so cool!!! – do it again!!!”

What was your first summer job?

A games attendant at the PNE.

Which favourite artists/groups/pieces of music do to you listen to?

I am a pianist and I really like classical music.

What’s your favourite colour?

Blue.

What are your favorite things to do when you aren’t working?

I love going out to watch movies.

What do you particularly like about working at SFU and in the Faculty of Science?

I love the people that I work with.

What 5 words would you use to describe yourself?

Hardworking, kind, outgoing, engaging, observant.
