SFU golfers Laura Jones and Estee Leung have been named NCAA All-American Scholars by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). Jones also received the honour in 2018.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. Completing her junior season and majoring in health sciences at SFU, Jones registered a 4.25 grade point average on a scale that awards an “A+” for 4.33. Leung followed closely behind Jones with an impressive 3.98 CGPA (“A” standing) in biomedical physiology.

Jones and Leung played pivotal roles in SFU’s sixth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf West Regional Championship in the spring. SFU was two spots shy of earning a berth to the NCAA Championships. Leung finished her first West Regional in a tie for 15th with a 54-hole total of 225 while Jones battled through the challenging course conditions to shoot a 257.

Leung had an average score of 79.1 while Jones averaged 85.2 through eight tournaments during the season.
