SFU's Kirsten Pinkney begins pro journey in France

After finishing her senior season on Burnaby Mountain, Simon Fraser University volleyball standout Kirsten Pinkney is taking the next step in her volleyball journey as she moves on to the pro game in Europe after signing with Volleyball Romans in Romans-Sur-Isere, France. 
 
Volleyball Romans currently lead the 3rd division of Women's Volleyball in France, and was looking to bolster its roster by adding Pinkney as the season progressed. Romans is currently vying to maintain one of the top two spots in the third division, in order to gain promotion to the second division next season.
 
Romans-Sur-Isere is situated in the Drome department of Southeastern France, has a population of about 33,000, and is about an hour-and-a-half south of the city of Lyon.
 
As Pinkney makes the transition to playing pro, she describes the emotions and excitement that came with the decision to take her talents to France: 
 
"It means the world to me signing with Volleyball Romans in France. Since the day I found out what professional volleyball was, it became my ultimate goal and dream. During this experience and moving across the world I have probably felt every emotion possible. Depending on the hour I could go from happy, excited, sad, frustrated, nervous. It's been a roller coaster but it's all part of the experience, and I can't wait to see what's in store for me!"
