Ernst Logar grew up in Carinthia the southernmost province of Austria, as a member of the Slovenian minority. His teens had been affected by the conflict of the German and Slovenian speaking Carinthians in his home country, which has a strong impact on his art practice.
Having engaged subjects as diverse as the Austrian resistance movement in World War II (The End of Remembering – Carinthian Partisans), space and power (Non Public Spaces) and the resource oil (Invisible Oil), his art work tries to reveal the hidden layers of modern society. Most of his work is based on an extensive research process and the subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the forms of the work.
In his presentation, Ernst Logar will focus on his art practice which is related to the resource of oil.
