Indian Summer Festival [ONLINE]
When: Saturdays from May 16 - July 18 | 11:00 AM
In celebration of Indian Summer Festival's 10th anniversary edition (and in response to the global pandemic) the 10-day July festival will move online with 10 specially curated-for-screen digital events over 10 weeks until July 18, 2020.
From Grammy Award-winning musicians to emerging poets, razor sharp economists to visionary environmental warriors, this year’s programming spans literary dialogues, intellectual debates, musical performances, and interactive culinary experiences. Indian Summer Festival has built its reputation on its loving and audacious curatorial punch, and this 10th anniversary edition sees a stunning global cast of talent applying its creative power to address this unsettling time.
So please mark Saturdays in your calendar, and register for upcoming events and watch for ISF in your inboxes and on your screens. It’s free to participate!
Upcoming events include:
Vikram Vij is a Canadian culinary gem. Anyone who has experienced Vikram’s trademark hospitality knows that he always manages to create a distinct dining experience. In this special online event for Indian Summer Festival, Vikram gives a masterclass in Indian cuisine, creating a seasonal plant-based meal together with you in real time, in the intimacy of your own kitchen. Leo Award-winning actor Agam Darshi plays host, drawing out Vikram’s life story, and the deeper things that a cuisine signifies – culture, gathering, affection, relationships… not for nothing is food referred to as ‘the sixth language of love’.
The menu will feature three seasonal plant-based dishes that make up a complete meal for two. This event is part interview and part cooking class, followed by a dinner party for those purchasing the special package option. Broadcast live at the Sky Lounge at The Arc.
We’ll start with a concert featuring some of the most gifted musicians in our part of the world. Experience a roster of outstanding musicians specially curated by Jarrett Martineau, host of the award-winning show ‘Reclaimed’ on CBC. This part of the evening can be experienced for free by registering and listening/dancing along on our Facebook or Youtube channels.
To unlock the party level (which features a home-delivered multi-course menu by award-winning Chef Tushar of Indian Pantry), you’ll need to buy a ticket. The ticket also gives you exclusive access to our Zoom room afterparty, where guests will turn their screens on and see each other – so that you can bump into old friends and make new ones. The afterparty features DJ sets and surprise special guests from all over the world. So put those pyjamas away and dress up – you’ll be seen, we’ll all be dancing. Let’s send off Indian Summer Festival’s 10th Anniversary edition in style!
