IS IT A FILM? A PLAY? A PROVOCATION? —Quill & Quire
In this moment of suffering and turmoil, it becomes urgent to explore questions that recur in award-winning writer Anosh Irani’s work: how does one transcend pain? Is it even possible? Or is it that you simply lessen the pain by transforming the moment that you are experiencing?
From the three-time Governor General’s Literary Award finalist and two-time Dora Award-winning playwright comes a new work that sits in the exciting space between theatre and film. A poetic and gritty piece directed by Lois Anderson and featuring powerful performances by Munish Sharma and Laara Sadiq, ‘Transcendence’ explores the human subterranean and the answers that may lie with the spirit guides who live among us.
Following the launch of ‘Transcendence’, writer Anosh Irani and director Lois Anderson will join ISF’s Artistic Director Sirish Rao and exciting guest luminaries from the literary and theatre world in a conversation about the act of transformation.
