TechTeams is our first year mentorship program and an integral part of helping students transition in to SIAT. Our mentors, with the support of our academic advising team, provide first year students with the opportunity to participate in the university community by offering weekly workshops that cover different aspects of university life such as:
- What to expect in your first year
- Information about co-op
- Insights from senior students
- Learning about campus resources
- Help with course planning
TechTeams offers a relaxing and fun environment and is an opportunity to meet fellow students. We look forward to seeing you there.
Meet your TechTeams mentors for Fall 2021
Hi everyone, my name is Sabrina (she/her)! I’m a second-year BSc SIAT student and I’ll be one of your TechTeam leaders for the upcoming year! I get how overwhelming first-year can be. I honestly knew nothing when going into my first year, so I’m really excited to share my insights and help ease your transition into SIAT. I can’t wait to meet every one of you and hear about your passions! Some little things about me: I enjoy snowboarding and volleyball, looking at architecture designs, learning new languages, and going out with friends especially to eat. See you all in the fall!
Hi all! My name is Nathan and I'm a second-year SIAT student who'll be one of your TechTeams leaders. For me, starting my journey at SFU online was quite daunting since I wasn't sure how everything would play out. Thankfully, attending TechTeams helped me with meeting others who were also feeling the same way and taught me what I should expect about navigating through my degree. On the side, I love learning about design however I can whether it's creating content for the tech engagement club, SFU Surge, or exploring the internet for cool fonts, visual interactions and compositions. I love bubble tea (especially with brown sugar) but my quarantine hobbies have included baking and watching anime while eating mazesoba or Korean fried chicken.
