The Social Data Analytics (SDA) Minor is the only degree program of its kind in Canada to provide the skills to effectively navigate, analyze and communicate “big data” in the social science context.

Application deadline: October 31st 2022

How to apply

Whether you’re inspired by communication, ethics, statistics or any other discipline offered at SFU, the social data analytics minor can help you discover how technology fits into global society.

Designed for students across SFU, admitted students will complete a minimum of 27 units of coursework and gain a foundation in data analysis principles to complement and add value to their chosen major subject.

This program is for you if you are:

  • a current student at SFU
  • an incoming student to SFU

Requirements

Program entry is limited and will be restricted to 30 students in the first year. Your application will be evaluated on the basis of your advising transcript, your statement of interest and how well the minor will fit with your current program(s), if any. There are no required courses to have completed before applying, nor is there a minimum GPA requirement.

Deadlines

You can apply for the minor at any time. It is recommended to inquire with the SDA advisor before applying to ensure the program will fit within your degree.
