AUDIOCENTRIC

Referring to a form of speech or mode of verbal expression which makes use of AURAL imagery. Phrases of this type are in contrast to the visual bias of the English language. Examples include, "that doesn't ring true," "just another whistle stop," "it speaks for itself," and so on. Photocentric, or visually-biased phrases, include, "So I see," and "from my point of view," with possibly the most common one being "I went to see a concert." See also the Introduction.
