REEL 78 COMMENTARY

1. Three machines whiz past the microphones (50 feet away). They were driving along a deep ditch by the side of the Trans-Canada Highway, 12 miles east of Regina at 11:45 p.m.! Recordists approached red taillights, passed them, stopped and waited for them to speed past. Some wind problems.

2. Sparse late night traffic at corner of Albert and Victoria.

3. Same, changed position to avoid wind. Car horn (2'30").

4. Starts with train whistle and wind in microphones, otherwise not much happening. Recording was made through a crack in window, which dulls the sound.

5. There are two notes here, a third apart. When the ambient air pressure changes, so does the chord. Mostly this is a constant, but minimal fluctuation. However, twice there are large dips in pitch for a short time. Nice.
