REEL 10 COMMENTARY

Rather less interesting than the previous reel. The band is not amplified for the second half of the show and sounds subdued.

1. Opens with ringmaster singing; laughter from kids.

4'40" end of medley.

5'20" intermission announcements.

7'00" mechanical hum starts and good dense crowd-sounds.

2. Opens with conversation in foreground, crowd sounds. Hot dog vendors in background. Microphones are pointed toward the concourse for intermission ambience. No music in this take. Some disturbance on left channel throughout (an intermittent clunking sound).

3. Opens with unamplified band playing interlude material. Mechanical hum underlying all this gives strange perspective to music. Same disturbance as in previous take.

*3'00" announcement of first acts of second half of show.

*5'30" tiger roars (somehow the music does not quite fit the situation).

7'55" more tiger roars.

10'00" lion tamer's voice.

10'30" gates closing on tigers.

17'15" elephant act announcement.

Continued on reel 11.
