REEL 35 COMMENTARY

1. Distant low frequency rumble from city and an idling parked car nearby (from 2'00" til end). Some close-up dripping from melting snow and some quite distant shift whistles. Shotgun microphones were used for this recording rather than the usual cardioid ones. Not very interesting.

0'25" distant train horn and other whistle.

2'00" car starting and idling til end of take. Cuts out most other sounds.

3'20" distant train horn.

4'30" other car starting in background, accumulation of motor sounds.

5'00" car approaching.

5'05" distant whistle,

5'10" heavy low frequencies from same car.

5'45" other car approaching and parking.

11'25" car approaching. Between 6'00" and here nothing but city rumble in distance and idling car sound.

2. Motor of ski lift, nice rhythm.

3. Skiing sounds, some voices.

3'00" ski tow sounds.

6'20" entering cafeteria.
