REEL 64 COMMENTARY

1. Very noisy. Compressor noise and other construction sounds. Compressor close-up for a while.

2. An electric bus with very little motor noise. Conversations clearly audible and hilarious. Easily distinguishable when bus starts and stops. Little outside noise coming in. Great sequence.

0'30" money goes in, women's voices in background, great conversation!

1'20" first stop.

3'10" brief pause in the various conversations going on simultaneously.

4'10" money into the till.

5'30" passenger misses stop, forgot to pull the bell, conversation subsides.

9'50" stop bell.

3. Dull rumble, higher volume and intermittent dull crashes in distance. A hum with a nice chord. Wind on microphones occasionally.

2'30" signal code from mill, a high-pitched horn.

3'05" distant car horn exchange.

Take ends with a long, slow fade-out.

4. Take starts with a long, slow fade-in. Slightly more detail than in the previous take.

5'40" steam valves puffing spasmodically.

Ends with another slow fade.

5. Near Deer Lake, between Burnaby Art Gallery and the lake. Typical AC hum with few harmonics. Freeway traffic in distance.
