REEL 32 COMMENTARY

These recordings are not very good, because the van motor predominates, except for take 5. Mostly very undefined lo-fi environment, strong accumulation of low frequencies throughout from van motor.

1. Shift horn in progress at beginning of take. Mostly car motor.

2. Driving in van, microphones pointing out window. Car motor is, of course, the predominant sound. Slow driving, passing construction, stopping, some hammering in background at end.

3. 0'40" heavy truck passes by, winding up.

5'30" change of ambience.

Mostly car motor again.

4. Car engine seems to be idling throughout.

5. Van engine now off, ambience consists mainly of diesel generator in foreground -- good and clear -- occasional burst of loud buzzsaw noise.

6. Van in motion again.  Passes by Morrison Steel, Westex Mfg., Ocean Cement, B.C. Equipment Co., Arrow Transfer Co., Lift Parts Service of Vancouver, Kitsilano Marine, and ends pointing towards Granville bridge.

2'00" metallic banging.

5'50" hammering.
