Administrative Structure

Safety & Risk Services (SRS) is a service department reporting to the Vice President Finance and Administration.  The senior administrative manager of the department is the Chief Safety Officer, Mark LaLonde. The department consists of five units including Administration & Strategic Growth, Campus Safety & Security Services, Environmental Health & Research Safety, Risk Management and Emergency & Continuity Planning.

Mandate

Collectively, the Safety & Risk Services team is dedicated to its mandate of collaboratively enhancing safety and mitigating risks across the SFU community by:

  • developing systems that seek to prevent incidents which compromise safety of any member of the community
  • reducing the incidence of injuries and risks by proactive trend analysis and planning
  • responding in a timely fashion to all incidents related to safety and risk
  • supporting individuals impacted by incidents which affect their safety or wellbeing
