Director & Officer Insurance
Anyone appointed to a board on behalf of SFU or representing SFU will normally be covered under SFU's liability insurance which includes the coverages typically found in Directors and Officers policies. To be duly diligent, you should have some type of correspondence from your supervisor confirming that your appointment is officially on behalf of SFU.
In general, the policy will NOT provide coverage for those who are paid specifically to render professional services such as investment managers, auditors, or actuarial consultants. Exclusions include criminal matters, personal advantage, illegal remuneration, dishonesty, violation of statutes, bodily or personal injury, environmental impairment, intellectual property, employment related practices, and tuition fees or rents.
Please ensure you have discussed this with the non-SFU organization for which you are conducting work and have sought legal advice where you feel it is appropriate.
