Harassment & Stalking

Campus Security is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In the event that someone is harassing and/or stalking you on campus and you need immediate emergency assistance call Campus Security at 778.782.4500. If you are off campus, call 911. Campus Security encourages all members of the SFU community to take advantage of the various personal security options available to the community, such as Safe Walk and Lone Worker programs, as well as the Emergency Phones which are located across campus.

If someone is repeatedly threatening or following you, waiting for you and/or watching you, damaging your property, calling your friends and family about you or sending things to you, your family or your friends, this may be considered criminal harassment.  If you have changed your lifestyle because of such actions, or if you cannot do what you want or go where you want, you may be the victim of criminal harassment.  Trust your instincts. If you feel your safety is at risk, contact Campus Security's Personal Security Office and talk to them about your situation.

No matter where the harassment and/or stalking is taking place, or when it occurred, the Personal Security Office is available to provide support and assistance. The Personal Security Office provides safety planning consultation, can assist you with contacting the police and navigating the court processes, if necessary. We can provide referrals to on and off campus resources such as SFU Health and Counselling Services as well as community supports and services.
