SFU Gerontologist Andrew Wister: Ageism in the COVID-19 crisis
Dr. Andrew Wister, Professor of Gerontology at SFU and Director of SFU Gerontology department, was recently interviewed by The Vancouver Sun to discuss ageism in the COVID-19 crisis.
Wister pinpoints some critical issues: "How and why do some older adults adapt and thrive better than others? What changes need to be made to our health care, long-term care and community support systems to be nimble, effective, and resilient? What kind of a society do we want — one that addresses the needs of the most vulnerable, or one that meets the needs of the more privileged?"
