Student advisory committee

This fall, you'll have the opportunity to join a group of students from all eight faculties taking the lead in shaping the SFU experience for all students! While all SEI key action areas are placing students at the core of their activities, some of these areas will be using student panels to validate the direction they're taking, based on your feedback.

What is the student advisory committee?

You spoke, we listened and, as a result, we're making progress on taking the SFU student experience to the next level. As we make these improvements, we need your help to validate the direction we're taking. The student advisory committee will gather to learn about changes that are coming to the student experience from some of the SEI key action areas, and provide reactions and feedback to help steer us in the best direction.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for up to 15 students for a core advisory group to meet every two weeks and discuss a range of in-depth issues. We'll also be looking for up to 50 additional students to act as a think tank that will weigh in more casually each month – sometimes online, somtimes face-to-face. We'll be recruiting from all eight faculties.

When can you start?

We will begin recruiting for the student advisory commitee in October 2018. The first meeting of this group will take place in mid-November. Information will be distributed to all students once the progress begins.

What if I'm only interested in one key area?

No problem! If there's a particular key action area that you feel best matches your interest and expertise, visit that action area page to find out about opportuntiies to get involved.
