Destination SFU

The destination SFU key action area is about making the physical campuses more vibrant and exciting– a place where students want to stay and engage with their learning community, and where the wider community wants to visit.

Opportunities to get involved

Participate in a consultation

What do you want to see changed on campus? How could the physical campus be more vibrant and exciting? What would entice you to stay on campus between classes?

The Home Away from Home and Destination SFU working groups invite you to share your ideas on how we can improve the SFU campus environment.

Progress to date

The destination SFU group has:

  • Completed research phase: in person flash consultations and online surveys done, a total of 365 students participated (including undergrad, grad, and non-credit). All projects come directly from student feedback.
  • Begun designing brand-compliant wayfinding signage for Harbour Centre, and will be rolling out physical materials at the end of the year.
  • Determined three main categories for future projects: physical spaces, wayfinding, and events. Continuous community consultations will take place to ensure that projects reflect everyone’s needs.
    • Future projects include finding ways to bring more art, colour, and nature into student spaces; possibly murals/photographs printed on vinyl, as well as expanding Surrey’s weekly games lounge to Vancouver and Burnaby campuses. Vancouver Games Lounge is piloting this Fall, on Wednesdays, when space is available at Harbour Centre's Foyer.
