Tina Jawanda
Major: Biological Sciences.
In my free time, I enjoy: doing arts and crafts, baking, and being outdoors.
I knew what to major in: once I took the time to reflect on my strengths and interests. When I transferred to SFU, I made an appointment with Career Services to get some help with exploring different career options, and I started to consider careers I had never considered before. I was able to narrow down some exciting career options that aligned my academic strengths in the Sciences with my interests.
My biggest struggle in university: figuring out which major to pursue. I changed my mind many, many times!
If I could change one thing about my undergrad career: I would have done Co-op! I think Co-op is such a valuable learning opportunity.
My best advice for current students is: be open minded, get involved on campus, and don't be afraid to challenge yourself. Seek out opportunities to explore and learn outside of the classroom -- this may help you learn more about yourself, your strengths and your interests, and develop transferable skills.
