Open House thank you

To members of the campus community:
My heartfelt thanks go out to the many students, faculty and staff who worked so hard to make Saturday's Open House the tremendous success that it was!

Almost 20,000 people showed up at the Burnaby campus, making this Open House the largest public event ever held at SFU.  They got to see fascinating interactive displays, enjoy fabulous entertainment, and consume great food - all the while learning more about what this great institution has to offer its students and the communities it serves.

Your dedication and commitment brought this event to life, and showed more clearly than words can express what it means to be an "engaged university."

Thank you once again.
Andrew Petter
President and Vice Chancellor

1. Food for Thought: Changes coming
Dining Program Enhancement Survey
A new survey online asks you to tell the University, in more depth, about Burnaby campus food services, and what changes you'd hope to see.

And you could win a “New iPad” for taking part.

The new questionnaire reflects feedback and issues raised in the Food for Thought initial survey last fall and in consultations held throughout campus in the past month. It covers such things as the price of food, the cost/value of meal plans, dining opportunities available up to 24/7, and optimum locations for food services.

In line with President Andrew Petter’s vision plan for SFU, the Food for Thought process will lead to restructuring of residential and retail dining, meal plans, and more.

The survey is posted to the internet at http://www.porterkhouwconsulting.com/sfu/sfu.html

Once you have completed the survey you will be asked to register for a prize drawing.
Please complete the survey by March 19, 2012.

If you feel that the food venues and service needs to be improved, this is your chance to provide needed additional feedback.

As a thank-you for your time, the University is offering the following prizes (only SFU students are eligible to win these prizes):

Grand Prize: One winner will receive “New  iPad”
Second Prize: $100 SFU Bookstore Gift Card
Third Prize: $50 SFU Bookstore Gift Card

The winners will be drawn from surveys submitted on the internet and notified by e-mail.
Thank you for your personal role in helping to enhance campus dining services at SFU

The SFSS will hold an online referendum on March 20-22 for undergraduate students to decide whether to give the plan the go-ahead.
To learn more about Build SFU, drop by Maggie Benston Centre any weekday and visit the "Think Tank" orientation room, or check out www.buildsfu.ca.

2012 March 1

Build SFU: Student Union Building | Stadium | Community
The Simon Fraser Student Society is presenting a proposal to build a student union building and stadium on the Burnaby campus. Adding about 100,000 square feet of student space and a 2,500-seat outdoor stadium, the "Build SFU" project would be a $65 million investment that would address a lack of student space and create the facilities needed to enhance the sense of community at SFU.
