Make some new friends, build your resume, and give back to the SFU community.

Peer Education is a group of volunteer programs that incorporate teaching, advising or outreach. There are six programs you can apply to.

Career Peer Educators provide one to one assistance to students and recent graduates on resume, cover letter, interviewing tips and jobs on campus.

Engagement Peer Educators work with staff members to develop strategies to promote student involvement beyond the classroom. This includes providing one to one consultations for students looking to get more involved.

English as an Additional Language (EAL) Peer Educators are English-speaking students who are linked with EAL students. They help EAL students strengthen their command of English through individual and group conversations.

Health Peer Educators work with health promotion staff to provide health education outreaches, as well as deliver or coordinate full term well-being programs.

Learning and Writing Peer Educators help fellow students practice effective note taking and improve their writing, study, and time management skills. This is done primarily through one-on-one peer advising sessions but also through panels and workshops.

Sustainability) Peer Educators work to make SFU a more sustainable community. We train Sustainability Peer Educators to be highly informed about sustainability at SFU and you will participate in various sustainability initiatives and events.

Peer Mentorship (multiple programs and faculties): Peer Mentors help new students (mentees) navigate their first year at SFU and acclimatize to university life. They meet with their mentees and act as a resource for them. Peer Mentorship programs exist in multiple faculties and for a few specific populations of students, including International and the Peer Cousins program for Indigenous students.

Athletics event staff are responsible for the presentation and execution of all SFU Athletics events to ensure fans and athletes have a great experience. This position starts in mid August 2015 and requires a two term commitment.

This makes them a trustable, shareable token of skill or achievement. Since their debut in 2011, open badges have been adopted by educational institutions, professional and vocational organizations, and employers around the world because they provide a better way to recognize learning, especially learning that takes place outside a classroom.
