Building a career for a brighter future

Your career is not only one of the biggest factors shaping your life – it’s also one of your biggest opportunities to make a difference in the world. This can feel like a lot of pressure! But with so many big problems to solve in our communities and globally, how do you know where to begin?

This online co-curricular program will support you through exploring and taking action towards your post-SFU career, while also counting towards your Co-Curricular Record and earning your Career Ready Changemakers - Certificate of Completion.

  • Learn 10 career building strategies for changemakers and map out your next steps
  • Connect with organizations or employers working in the social impact sector or on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Attend skill-building workshops on topics such as resumes, networking, applying to grad school, wellness during work search and preparing for the West Coast Virtual Fair
  • Identify the most helpful tools, resources and opportunities at SFU and beyond
  • Think about career building and leadership critically through an anti-oppression lens

Job Search Success - Online

Open to all students, from any discipline, at any level

Receive expert feedback on your cover letter and resume, and engage in activities that are relevant in today's diverse workplace. Think differently about your experiences and how your unique background can positively contribute to your job search.  

Registration is $20, non-refundable after the course start date.  Duration 5 weeks. Recognized on your co-curricular record.

Explore hundreds of career, co-op, volunteer and graduate school opportunities and meet representatives from over 150 organizations at FALL 2022 West Coast Virtual Fair on November 2-3, 2022. We will be offering a series of workshops and panels on Oct 24-27 to help you prepare and make the most of your time at the Fair.
