Process for a CRRA Criminal Record Check

The following instructions apply during the campus closure associated with the COVID-19 pandemic:

  1. Complete the SFU CRRA Criminal Record Check Consent form.
  2. Supply copies of two pieces of identification, one of which must be government-issued photo identification (see below)
  3. Submit all documents to Registrar and Information Services via email at crimrc@sfu.ca
  4. The $28 for the fee required by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General will be charged to your student account. Please consult the How to Pay your Fees page for more information on your options for payment during the COVID-19 pandemic on-campus closure.

If there is no determination of risk: you will automatically be forwarded an electronic copy of your clearance letter. The Criminal Records Check is valid for 5 years unless there is a break in studies at SFU.

If there is a determination of risk: you will receive a letter through registered mail from the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General providing you with information about the adjudication process. As well, you will be contacted by Student Services with information regarding the options that are available to you.
