SFU is committed to providing an accessible environment to all who visit, work and study on campus. Most SFU buildings are accessible by wheelchair ramps, have disabled parking and are equipped with ADA-compliant restrooms. Many campus buildings are also equipped with power-assisted doors, and prospective students and their families may arrange for an access tour at any SFU campus. Please contact us for any questions.
If you need general information on campus maps please navigate to the Facilities Services website.
An SFU Burnaby Accessibility Map showing elevator locations on campus is also available.
If you are interested in finding out more about the accessibility of these campuses, please consult the Physical Access Guides, or address your inquiries to the following contacts:
Wintery conditions, particularly on the Burnaby Mountain campus, bring challenges for everyone travelling to and getting around the University. Snow removal crews will work from the parking lots in toward the centre of campus during the mornings, and from the centre of campus out toward the parking lots at the end of day. Click here for a PDF version of the Snow Control Map. Blue dots indicate the wheelchair ramps and accessible pathways that will be cleared by snow removal crews.
Announcements of campus closures are communicated in several ways, including email, SFU Alerts and Campus Security’s Road Conditions page. For tips on safety in the snow, safe winter driving and links to weather trackers for SFU and the Lower Mainland, check out the Winter Safety Precautions page from SFU Public Affairs and Media Relations.
