To receive the first payment, you must have a final admissions average of 90% or 31 IB points and be enrolled in and complete a minimum of 12 SFU standard graded units in your first term.
If you enroll in 3 to 11 SFU standard graded units in your first term, your scholarship will automatically be deferred to the next term. To be eligible for your first payment in the following term, you must meet the renewal cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.00 on your first term marks and enroll in at least 12 SFU standard graded units in the following term.
To receive the second payment, you must achieve a minimum CGPA of 3.00 at the end of your first term and be enrolled in and complete a minimum of 12 SFU standard graded units.
Payment Three, onwards:
To receive the third payment and all subsequent payments, you must have a minimum CGPA of 3.50, and be enrolled in and complete a minimum of 12 SFU standard graded units per term.
If you register in less than 12 SFU standard graded units in a term and you meet the CGPA requirements your scholarship will be automatically deferred. Your academic performance for those SFU units attempted will be reviewed when assessing your eligibility for your future entrance award payments, whether you received a payment or not. You must meet the renewal CGPA on any academic work you attempt in order to remain eligible for your award.
If your CGPA falls below the minimum requirement of 3.50 (but remains above 3.00) you will not be eligible for your next scholarship payment. Your scholarship payments will not be lost in the terms where your CGPA remains between 3.00 and 3.49. You will have an opportunity to receive your scholarship payments in future terms (within the term tenure of your scholarship) when you reach the required 3.50 CGPA.
The term tenure for scholarships with four payments is nine terms (three years). That is, the payments must be claimed within nine terms of starting your studies at SFU.
The term tenure for scholarships with eight payments is eighteen terms (six years). That is, the payments must be claimed within eighteen terms of starting your studies at SFU.
If your SFU CGPA drops below 3.00 in any term, your scholarship will be permanently cancelled. Please see a financial aid advisor if you have any questions or concerns.
