Financial Planning Information for Parents

Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries

If you work for a medium to large corporation or belong to any private organizations (such as the Lions Club or a public union), you should inquire to see if there are any scholarships, awards and/or bursaries that are available for your child.

SFU offers Entrance Scholarships, Awards, and Bursaries for new undegraduate students applying to SFU each Fall. We encourage families to start planning early, as our Undergraduate Scholars Entrance Scholarship deadline is December 15 each year.

SFU also offers in-course Scholarships, Awards and Bursaries.  Students apply for SFU-based funding on a term-by-term basis.

If your child has received external funding, please follow the instructions provided on our website on how to direct funding to SFU to have applied to your child's student account.

Please note: in almost all cases, the direct recipient of the scholarship, bursary or award must be the one who applies. In some cases, however, candidates can be nominated. Make sure to read the terms of reference to find out the specific details about the application and/or nomination procedure.
