PROTECTION OF PRIVACY NOTICE

Health and Counselling Services makes this voluntary service available to you for your convenience. Please be advised that the personal information you provide to initiate this session and a record of the conversation is stored and accessed in Canada. All conversations are automatically recorded and retained for the period of time required by law and University policy. Your conversation is encrypted as it moves back and forth between your computer and the chat platform's server. Please carefully consider and decide if it is appropriate to use this service to discuss sensitive personal, medical, financial, immigration, or academic details.  You should reveal only information you are comfortable providing online. Your name, email, student ID and identifying information will not be requested by HCS during your use of LiveChat. If you are concerned about communicating other personal information online, please call 778 782 4615 to inquire about other services or to book an appointment to speak with an HCS mental health provider. 

PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTION NOTICE

The information you provide to initiate a chat session and your conversation with an operator is collected under the authority of the University Act (R.S.B.C. 1996, c.468, s. 27(4)(a)). It is related directly to and needed by the University to provide you with the chat service and administer the University's use of the service. The information will be used to log you into the session, record a copy of your conversation with the operator, trouble-shoot problems with the service and answer follow-up queries if necessary. The information will also be used to ensure the quality of an operator's service.
