Support Over Suicide & Supporting Students in Distress (SOS/SID)
This three-hour workshop is available for students, staff and faculty to assist community members in recognizing distress and/or suicide risk, and can help you learn to recognize when it's time to refer students to seek out mental health support.
Offered three times a term - once at each campus - it is open to students, staff and faculty at no cost.
Make SPACE Ambassadors
SPACE is an easy-to-remember acronymn that outlines five evidence-based areas of positive mental health. Book a 5 minute "micro-intervention" at the start of your class to boost student well-being, delivered by our trained Make SPACE for Well-being ambassadors. This is designed to help students feel good to support effective learning and link them to support services on campus.

TA/TM Graduate Student Sessions
A workshop designed for grad students, TAs and TMs to provide strategies to build resilience and support their well-being in graduate school as well as information about how they can support student well-being in their role as a TA/TM.

Student Mental Health & Well-being
An education session is available for staff and faculty that provides an overview of the mental health & well-being supports and services available at SFU (including My SSP) as well as information about the role of faculty and staff in assisting and referring students in distress. The session also includes information about resources for faculty to support student well-being, including information about referring a student.
We can attend a meeting in your department/ unit and cover the following topics:
- Available support services for Mental Health and Well-being at SFU
- Staff/ faculty role in referring a student for support
- Support for well-being in learning environments
