Global Connections Program

Start or continue your journey at SFU by building a supportive community around you.

This is a peer-support program designed to help new undergraduate students from international pathways including transfer students from Canadian post-secondary institutions (including Fraser International College) and incoming exchange students to SFU. This program provides the opportunity to learn about the culture of SFU while making new friends and exploring what the community has to offer.

How does the program work?

When you join the Global Connections Program, you can request to be matched with a Community Leader to support you and answer your questions one-on-one about all aspects of life at SFU. You will also be meeting other SFU students through various events and socials over the course of one term. As a member, you will receive priority invitations to all the program events and you can choose to attend as many or as few events as you want. This program is free for eligible students.

Who is it for?

Participating in the Global Connections Program is a strongly recommended step for students from international pathways. This program is open to all SFU undergraduate students and who are:

  • Newly starting at SFU or recently started, including exchange, transfer students from FIC and other institutions; and/or
  • Looking for diverse connections and friends across campus; and/or
  • Looking for intercultural learning opportunities; and/or
  • Looking for tips and useful resources from your peers in a relaxed, small group environment while sharing your culture with the SFU community; and/or
  • Looking for personalized support in their transition to SFU
