Does your study permit expire at the end of July 2020?

July 06, 2020

It is common for study permits to expire at this time.  Please check the expiry date of your study permit.  If it will be expiring at the end of July, you will need to apply for a study permit extension before your permit expires to avoid interruptions in your studies and to remain in Canada legally.  Detailed instructions for extending your study permit can be found at the links below:

Please note that as per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's (IRCC) instructions, you are required to submit your study permit extension application online unless otherwise exempted.

If you are a citizen of a temporary resident visa (TRV)-required country and you would like to renew your TRV, you can apply for a new TRV after you have received your extended study permit.

If you have not provided biometrics for an application to come to Canada in the last 10 years you will be required to do so when you apply for your study permit extension.  Please visit the IRCC website for more information.  Iif biometrics are required you will need to book an appointment to give biometrics after submitting your study permit extension application online and receiving the biometrics instruction letter from IRCC.

NOTE:  Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, in Canada biometrics collection points are closed until further noticeYou must still apply to extend your study permit before it expires.  Once biometric collection resumes in Canada you can then book an appointment to give your biometrics.  Please visit the IRCC website for more information.
