Does your study permit expire at the end of March 2020?

February 11, 2020

It is common for study permits to expire at this time.  Please check the expiry date of your study permit.  If it will be expiring at the end of March, you will need to apply for a study permit extension before your permit expires to avoid interruptions in your studies.  Detailed instructions for extending your study permit can be found at the links below:

Please note that as per Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada's (IRCC) instructions, you are required to submit your study permit extension application online unless otherwise exempted.

If you have not provided biometrics for an application to come to Canada in the last 10 years you will be required to do so when you apply for your study permit extension.  Please visit the IRCC website for more information.  Note that if biometrics are required you will need to book an appointment to give biometrics after receiving the biometrics instruction letter from IRCC.  Appointment wait times vary and the time it takes you to give your biometrics is not included in the application processing time

If you are a citizen of a temporary resident visa (TRV)-required country and you would like to renew your TRV, you can apply for a new TRV after you have received your extended study permit.
