University Prep

What is it?

It's a free online course that will help you prepare for your academic transition to SFU. It will take about 45 minutes to complete and it will take you step by step through what you need to know and do before classes start.

This Faculty-specific module will introduce you to the academic culture at SFU, to course terminology, degree requirements, and the wide range of support services and resources available to you. It will provide you with the tools and strategies to start planning your degree and enroll in courses. There are also additional modules for international students, FIC transfer students, Indigenous students, student-athletes and students living in residence.

Who is it for?

All new undergraduate students.

Why do University Prep?

  • Assessment evidence shows that students who complete the course have higher rates of academic success and GPAs than those who don't.
  • If you complete all modules, you will be entered for a chance to win bookstore credit.
  • You will receive your first Co-Curricular Record accreditation!

Prize draw deadlines

January 10: deadline to be entered into the prize draw by completing University Prep.

How do I access the course?

Approximately five (5) business days after you have activated your SFU ID you will receive your University Prep course invitation. The invitation will be sent to your SFU email.

You will continue to have access to University Prep anytime throughout your first year to review the content, as you need it.
