If you're eligible, your Burnaby Recreation Membership is covered by student fees or staff benefits. To start using the recreation facilities, follow the steps below to activate your membership.
How to Activate your SFU Burnaby Recreation Membership
SFU Students
- Log into your student account via go.sfu.ca
- Click Complete your SFU Athletics & Recreation Waiver Now
- Read and agree to the waiver*
- Access recreation facilities with your SFU ID Card within 24-48 hours
* Waiver must be completed online every September. See renewing membership details
The liability waiver must be completed ONLINE in order to link your membership to your SFU ID Card.
FIC Students
- Activate your SFU Computing ID
CLICK TO ACTIVATE YOUR COMPUTING ID
- Login to the SFU Recreation Web Portal
Make sure to login as "SFU Users - Computing ID"
CLICK TO LOGIN TO THE WEB PORTAL
-After Logging In, Follow Steps Below to Complete Activation-
Membership Selection
Click the red “Memberships” button on the Web Portal homepage
Click “SFU Membership – FIC” from the list provided
Click the 1 Term (Semester) button
Select the current term & add them to the cart
A waiver will pop up - complete by signing each grey box
Check-out
Click the Check-out button
When a pop-up screen appears, click the Check-out button
This will complete the transaction and a receipt will be emailed to your SFU email
- You can now use your FIC card to access the Recreation facilities

Staff & Faculty
- Log into myinfo.sfu.ca
- Click Personal Information Home > Forms > Athletics & Recreation Waiver > Complete your SFU Athletics & Recreation Waiver Now
- Read and agree to the waiver*
- Within 24-48 hours, you'll have access to the recreation facilities with your SFU ID Card

Postdoctoral Fellows: to activate your membership, please follow steps 1-3 above AND submit confirmation of employment dates to rec@sfu.ca. Upon receipt of these dates, our staff will assist with activating your membership.
