Our meal plan means no declining balance that you have to worry about! This means that you can eat what you want and you won't run out of money!

The Dining Hall is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, during the Fall and Spring terms, so you can eat at a REAL student's schedule, which includes 2AM meals after a late-night study session! Summer term hours are 7 am – 10 pm. The best part is that the meal plans are open to everyone whether you live in Towers, Shell, McTaggart, Hamilton Hall, or Townhouses!

STEP 1: FILL OUT THE MEAL PLAN REQUEST FORM

For Students Living in Residence

  • Download and fill out a Meal Plan Request Form
  • Email your filled out Meal Plan Request Form to housing@sfu.ca or, bring it to the Residence and Housing Office (Residence Admin. Bldg. A1001)
  • Students in Residence will have their meal plan charges added to their student account
  • If you're a student who's in our Residence Towers, you're automatically enrolled in the 7-day Basic Plan. For more details see below.

For Students Not In Residence

  • Not a Resident? No Problem! The meal plan is for everyone. Just make sure that when you fill out the Meal Request Form, you check the correct box. For more details, see below.
  • Fill out the Meal Request Form and bring this form, your Student ID card, and payment to the Residence and Housing Office – located down the stairs below the Dining Hall. SFU students may have the meal plan added to their SFU student account.

For Non Students 

  • Not a student? No Problem! The meal plan is for everyone. Payment will be required at sign-up with your Meal Request Form. For more details, see below.

STEP 2: CHOOSE A PLAN THAT'S RIGHT FOR YOU

We have options so you can pick the plan that fits your needs, your schedule and your budget.

OPTION 1: 7-Day Platinum Plus

  • Eat 7-days a week in the Dining Hall; all you care-to-eat; 24-hours a day, (Summer 7am–10pm)
  • This adds: $500 Dining Dollars* to be used at Bistro Grille, Starbucks West Mall, Starbucks Cornerstone, Mackenzie Café, Diamond Alumni Centre, Discovery Cafe, or pay for a friend’s meal at the Dining Hall

OPTION 2: 7-Day Plus

  •  Eat 7-days a week in the Dining Hall; all you care to eat; 24-hours a day, (Summer 7am–10pm)
  • This adds: $250 Dining Dollars* to be used at Bistro Grille, Starbucks West Mall, Starbucks Cornerstone, Mackenzie Café, Diamond Alumni Centre, Discovery Cafe, or pay for a friend’s meal at the Dining Hall

OPTION 3: 7-Day Basic

  • Eat 7-days a week in the Dining Hall; all you care to eat; 24-hours a day, (Summer 7am–10pm)

OPTION 4: 5-Day Plus

  • Eat 5-days a week in the Dining Hall; all you care to eat; 24-hours a day, (Summer 7am–10pm)
  • This adds:  $150 Dining Dollars* to be used at Bistro Grille, Starbucks West Mall, Starbucks Cornerstone, Mackenzie Café, Diamond Alumni Centre, Discovery Cafe, or pay for a friend’s meal at the Dining Hall

OPTION 5: 5-Day Basic

  • Eat 5-days a week in the Dining Hall; all you care to eat; 24-hours a day, (Summer 7am–10pm)
  • Choose either Monday – Friday or Sunday - Thursday

HOW PAYMENTS WORK

RESIDENCE

If you are living in the Towers, you are on a required meal plan. You will be automatically set up on the 7 day basic plan. Submit the form to upgrade or adjust your plan.

Living in McTaggart, Shell, Hamilton Hall or Townhouses?  You too can sign up for a meal plan if you wish!  

Not on a meal plan?  No problem: you can still eat at the Dining Hall by paying cash at the door.

NOT A RESIDENT

No problem. Anyone can either sign up for a meal plan or pay cash at the door to eat at the Dining Hall.

Purchase your plan through Residence and Housing if you have a SFU ID card or FIC student card. (Anyone without a SFU ID card will need to purchase their plan through the Dining Hall as they will need to create a card for you). 

How Payments Work: Residents

  1. Charges will be placed on a go.sfu student’s account by Residence & Housing
  2. Dining Services activates the meal on your student ID card 
  3. Payments for the meal plan are due at the same time as residence fees
  4. Your student card must be presented and swiped each time you enter the Dining Hall
  5. Meal cards are not transferable, and Residents may not transfer meal plans or dining dollars to another Resident’s card

How Payments Work: Non-Residents

  1. Students who do not live in Residence can order a meal plan from Residence and Housing
  2. SFU students may have the charges added to their student account: payments for the meal plan are due at the same time as residence fees
  3. FIC students not in Residence requesting meal plans will need to make payment with their meal plan order form to activate the meal plan
  4. Staff and faculty requesting meal plans will need to make payment with their meal plan order form to activate the meal plan

MEAL PLAN POLICY

  • My SFU student ID card is required to access my meal plan at all times
  • Meal plans are purchased at the start of the term and valid through to the last day of exams
  • Unused Dining Dollars will be rolled over to the next term if a new meal plan is activated. Otherwise, Dining Dollars will become Swipe-and-Save dollars (meals purchased with Swipe-and-Save are taxed)
  • Meal plans added after the 3rd week of the term are prorated
  • Refunds are available up until November 15 for Fall Term, or March 15 for Spring Term, or July 15 for the Summer Term.  Eligible refunds will be prorated weekly and amounts will be credited to the student account.
