A Message to Families
As COVID-19 continues to impact communities across Canada, we want to assure you that we are taking all appropriate precautions to keep our students and your loved ones safe.
If a member of the Simon Fraser University community is required to self-isolate, they will receive guidance from the local health authority. Students living on-campus or off-campus requiring support during self-isolation can email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Caring for a student’s health and well-being during self-isolation is very important. Students are provided with a self-isolation guide that will help them during this time. This guide includes online resources, healthy activities and mental health support. A 14-day self-isolation planner will aid our students in planning their days while isolating.
If a student living in residence has to self-isolate, they will follow the protocols set out by the health and safety support team in Residence and Housing. They will be relocated to a room with a private or designated bathroom. Meals from the dining hall will be delivered to their door for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
If a student tests positive for COVID-19, the local health authority will provide guidance to undertake contact tracing to determine if any other school community members were in contact with the person who tested positive for COVID-19 and if any additional steps are required.
The safety and well-being of our students, their families, and our staff remains our highest priority. Please be reassured that SFU will continue to implement strict protocols and procedures around COVID-19 so that students can continue to receive education and attend school as safely as possible.
