SFU entered a unique partnership with the City of Surrey and KPU called Surrey City Lab.

The three-year pilot immerses the region’s post-secondary students in real world issues that affect Surrey by providing civic-related courses that focus on the region’s priorities. The partnership will also expand opportunities for SFU and KPU students to learn together.

In CityLab, the community becomes the classroom. Students explore Surrey and work together to make the community a better place to live.

Students will have the opportunity to

  • work and network with the City of Surrey
  • create solutions to real community issues
  • become more civic-minded
  • build relationships with students and faculty
