Institutional Sustainability

As outlined within SFU’s Strategic Vision, sustainability is one of the University’s six underlying principles and, as defined by SFU’s Sustainability Policy GP 38, encompasses ecological, social and economic aspects.  It is woven throughout campus operations, research, academics and engagement.

Additional information on SFU's institutional sustainability commitments and progress can be found on the Sustainability Dashboard.

Goals and Targets

  • In 2016, the SFU community of students, faculty, staff and senior leadership across the Burnaby, Vancouver and Surrey campuses, developed a 20-Year Sustainability Vision and Goals towards a sustainable future for the University.  This, along with industry excellence standards, will lay the foundation for SFU's upcomingsustainability targets in operations, research, academics and campus engagement.
