Professor David Jacks, chair of SFU’s economics department, can provide comment on the roller coaster year on the world’s commodity markets and why it may be at least another five years, into the 2020’s, before the cycle changes. He has studied more than 160 years of price data and can look at the booms and busts in everything from gold to oil, and can also assess global factors, such as the rapid speed of urbanization in China.
