2018 Winter Olympics: SFU experts available for comment

As Pyeongchang prepares for its turn on the world stage, Simon Fraser University researchers are available to comment on various issues surrounding the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Terrorism and security

André Gerolymatos, terrorism expert, can speak on the tensions between North and South Korea, the possibility of a terrorist attack at the games, as well as the safety of everyone attending the event.

Athletic performance

Matthew White, biomedical physiology and kinesiology (BPK), can speak on human temperature regulation, physiological demands of human performance from extreme low to high temperatures and humidities, control of breathing and energy expenditure.

Lindsay Meredith, business, can speak on the economic impact the games will have on Pyeongchang, as well as the city’s plans on repurposing the Olympic venues after the games.
