SFU scores top family-friendly employer award

For the fourth time in five years, Simon Fraser University is one of Canada’s top 20 family-friendly employers, according to MediaCorp Canada Inc.

The nation’s largest publisher of employment guides and periodicals bestows the award annually based on the programs and benefits an organization provides to assist employees with families and young children. The official announcement is in a feature, published in today’s Globe and Mail, with details on MediaCorp’sEluta.ca website.

On the Eluta.ca site, MediaCorp says: “Simon Fraser University’s health and family benefits are rated as exceptional.” And the site noted SFU’s family-friendly benefits include maternity top-up payments, paternal leave top-up for new fathers and adoptive parents, health benefits during maternity and parental leave, an onsite daycare centre and a subsidy for offsite daycare, compassionate top-up payment while caring for a family member, flexible working hours, and more.

Earlier in October, Mediacorp named SFU as one of Canada’s Top 100 employers for 2012 — for the fourth year in a row, and as one of British Columbia’s top employers for 2011.
