Advisory: SFU to celebrate Surrey campus expansion with new building opening April 25

Simon Fraser University will celebrate its Surrey campus expansion with the opening of its new building in downtown Surrey on Thursday, April 25, from 10:30 am – 12 noon. The event will include representatives from SFU, the federal and provincial governments and community guests.
Prior to the 10:30 a.m. ceremony there will be a piper-led procession of dignitaries from the SFU Surrey campus at Central City to the new building adjacent to the campus, where guests will await their arrival in the building’s 400-seat theatre. An opening ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m.
The opening celebrations will provide a first opportunity to explore the new facility, which will house SFU’s new Sustainable Energy Engineering program launching this fall.
A building tour for dignitaries and media will following the ceremony. There will be technology demos showcasing SFU innovation and research throughout the building and opportunities to engage with faculty and students.
