Research & Urban Interests: Alasdair’s research interests include critical heritage studies, equitable planning and development, social history, and urban polarization. 

Current/Previous Work: Alasdair has been developing and leading walking tours since 2008, most recently through his Vancouver DeTours organization. During the Fall 2020 semester he is working as a Teaching Assistant to Dr. May Farrales in SFU’s Geography Department. He is also currently a volunteer researcher with the Heritage Vancouver Society, documenting peer-led responses to Covid-19 in Vancouver’s  Downtown Eastside. In a previous life he spent a decade scouting and opening new locations for the Samesun Backpacker Hostel network across North America. 

When not studying… eating izakaya, reciting local trivia, and counseling a profoundly strange dog.
