Professor Anthony Perl on appointment of new TransLink CEO: Restoring public confidence is possible
Urban Studies professor and transportation expert Anthony Perl was sought out for comment on the appointment of TransLink's new CEO, Ken Desmond.
Asked to provide advice to the new CEO on how to restore public confidence and trust, Perl responded:
"We didn’t fall into a complete meltdown of the organization and it’s still functioning; it just was not one that could inspire people’s confidence the way it has at times in the past — and those times have been around the 2010 Olympics. It was clear the organization was functioning at high performance then and there was a lot of support for it, so it can be brought back to that level again… I’d say 12 to 18 months is the window to move the needle in that direction, and new leadership has that opportunity."
