Peter Couchman: Co-ops in a Sustainable City
In a co-operative city, a church moonlights as a farmers market, the community owns its local grocery store, and a vast majority of households produce the community’s energy. While it’s up to each community to create an ideal vision for its future, co-operatives, along with co-operation and re-imagining resources, can be a model to achieving sustainable communities, Peter Couchman told more than 100 people attending the Co-operative City Conference Nov. 23.
Peter, who’s the CEO of the Plunkett Foundation, delivered a keynote presentation during the one-day conference hosted by the B.C. Co-operative Association.
