Simon Fraser University's Venture Connection congratulates SFU students Ashish Gurung and Milun Tesovic for their achievements at the Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) / Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) national championships, held recently in Toronto. Ashish Gurung was awarded the David Henderson Bursary for Entrepreneurial Leadership, while Milun Tesovic was named the 2009 National Student Entrepreneur Competition Champion. Both Gurung and Tesovic have started companies that are clients of Venture Connection's incubator program, providing support for SFU student business ventures.

Gurung is president of SIFE SFU and a business student at the SFU-Surrey campus. Besides his coursework and his involvement with SIFE, he also works part-time at the Surrey campus and is CEO of NüXD, an SFU spin-off business specializing in the design of interactive technology.

Tesovic is a 22-year-old SFU business student and an owner and co-founder of Metroleap Media Inc., which runs the MetroLyrics.com website, consistently rated one of the top websites in Canada. He was recently named SFU's first Student Entrepreneur of the Year. He will represent Canada at the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards in Chicago this Fall.

NüXD and Metroleap are both clients of Venture Connection's incubator program. "It's great that the achievements of these SFU student entrepreneurs have been nationally recognized" said Jim Derbyshire, Venture Connection's Student Mentorship Program Director. "Ashish and Milun's success is helping build momentum at SFU and will encourage the next waves of student entrepreneurs."
