V7 Entertainment, a software development company co-founded by four MDM Program graduates, was among eight new start-up businesses selected to earn nine-months free rent in the Discovery Parks' official Generator Centre.

The City's Generator Challenge, which wrapped up in December, awarded the winning companies with 1,500 of the available 5,000 square feet in the centre. The Centre is located adjacent to the Great Northern Way Campus.

A Venture Connection client, V7 Entertainment was founded by MDM graduates Mike Torillo, Elmar Dela Cruz, Xiaonan Ken Zheng and Karthik Venkateshan, later joined by fellow alumni Mike Cornford. V7 Entertainment is looking to transform the game industry with innovative approaches to console games.

Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson congratulated the winners in an announcement stating, "These eight winners represent a promising future for Vancouver's tech sector." He also acknowledged the new Centre will prove important for attracting future cutting-edge companies.
