SFU is the first Canadian research post-secondary institution to be accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU). Accreditation encourages the university to thoroughly evaluate its performance through frequent reviews and yearly reports.

Accreditation must be reaffirmed every seven years. With SFU in its seventh year of the current cycle, this year’s report shows how the university has met the NWCCU’s Standard One, which focuses on student success, meeting an established institutional mission, and improving overall institutional effectiveness.

In addition to the Year-7 report, a group of administrators and peers from other NWCCU accredited institutions will be visiting SFU from April 3-5 to conduct a comprehensive site evaluation.

The team will conduct townhalls, which are an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to share their experiences working at or attending SFU. Consider attending one of the open sessions. Dates and times for the townhalls will be announced shortly.
